These people grow up so fast!
Keke Palmer is a 19-year-old actress who has starred in several films including Madea’s Family Renuion, Akeelah and the Bee and Joyful Noise. Her latest venture? A self-titled mixtape.
Honestly, I was a bit skeptical of it, I think I was expecting music that was geared for a way younger audience because I could not get out of mind that she was once a Nickelodeon star but after listening to it for the past week I can say that is not the case, everyone can enjoy it.
What many people don’t know is this isn’t her first body of work. She released her debut album Uncool in 2007 which got to number 85 on the R&B charts.
Palmer’s mixtape was released last month and features seven R&B tracks which she produced. As soon as I hit play last Monday I realised that this was going to be a great mixtape. The main themes are of love, boys, breaking up, walking away, you know the clichés but it was excellently delivered.
The girl has grown up and she wants people to know it. I look forward to hearing more from her and I hope she gets the support.
My favourites? Rather Walk Alone, Love Me Love Me Not, If 6 were 9 and Dance Alone.
Here are two music videos for songs off the mixtape.
