21 Terrible 90s Songs That Everyone Secretly Loves (according to Thought Catalog)

This is another listicle run through, that I know you will enjoy and it is suitable for today given it’s usually the day for TBT (Throw Back Thursday).

Like most music lovers, I have a soft spot for anything 90s, and in this list, most of the songs I love, there was one I honestly never heard of and one I would agree is terrible. Take a look at the original article here

Let’s go through the list.

1. ‘Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)’ by The Backstreet Boys

Umm, this is like THE BEST Backstreet Boys song EVER! The dancing, the cool video (yes I said cool). Everytime I hear this song, I get excited and I can do some of the choreography and I am not ashamed to say that.

2. ‘Men In Black’ by Will Smith

How could you not love this song, it’s freaking Will Smith. His flow made it easy to learn all the lyrics and that sample from ‘Forget Me Nots’ by Patrice Rushen made it a great song. Can’t remember the video? Check it out here

3. Enrique Iglesias – Bailamos

Let’s be honest, when I was growing up, I had no idea what Enrique was saying, so I made up my own words but that doesn’t matter, the song is great!

4. Savage Garden – Truly Madly Deeply

This song is on my list of top 10 songs from the 90s. Come on, tell me you didn’t sing all the words when you heard it play on the radio. Reminisce here

5. 98º – I Do (Cherish You)

I’ll be honest, when I saw this list I couldn’t remember the song but when I heard it I remembered it having a very corny video and it is cornier than I remember but it’s still a sweet song.

6. Aerosmith – I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing

Come on, how can this song be labeled as terrible? Don’t deny you try to make Steven’s notes everytime you hear the song. Click here to watch the video.

7. B*Witched – C’est La Vie

I DO NOT KNOW THIS SONG. :/

8. Sir Mix-a-Lot – Baby Got Back

This is a classic and without it we mightn’t have had ‘Anaconda’ :p. Watch the video here

9. Aqua – Barbie Girl

I won’t lie, I heard this song too many times in the 90s and I got tired of it and the video is weird but it’s still a classic.

10. Destiny’s Child – Say My Name

Another one that’s on my top 10 list of best 90s songs. I know every single word and I love this video. Be honest, ladies, I’m sure you were trying to do the dance moves when they broke it down in the song. Watch the video here

11. Five – When The Lights Go Out

Ok. This. Is. Terrible.

12. Seal – Kiss from a Rose

One of the best songs from a movie for me, Seal sang his heart out on this one. Haven’t heard this on the radio for awhile, maybe I’ll call in and make a request. Watch the video here

13. Ace of Base – All That She Wants

I don’t think I ever saw the video before but it’s freaking Ace of Base, they have good songs and this one is no exception.

14. Deep Blue Something – Breakfast At Tiffany’s

This song is a classic. A CLASSIC!!! Go ahead sing along and watch the video here

15. Ricky Martin – Livin’ La Vida Loca

I never understood why women were going crazy over Ricky but I did enjoy this song and it’s a great karoke tune.

16. Puff Daddy/Faith Evans/112 – I’ll Be Missing You

I remember crying everytime I saw this video, I think it was a perfect tribute to Biggie. Watch the video here

17. Lou Bega – Mambo No. 5

You can’t help but dance when you hear this song. It’s a song I never learned any other words but the chorus and that’s all I needed.

18. OMC – How Bizarre

Another 90s classic!!!! Still have no idea what’s he saying honestly but how bizarre? :p Watch the video here

19. Christina Aguilera – Genie In A Bottle

This is the song that made us fall in love with Christina. I loved it and it’s another video I knew the choreography for because back when MTV played music videos, it was all I watched.

20. Haddaway – What Is Love

This is a classic, no denying that. Everytime you heard this song come on in the club, you started jumping up and down and for people who don’t know Haddaway is from Trinidad and Tobago. I have to support my people! 🙂

21. Boyz II Men – End Of The Road

Boyz II Men helped couples make babies, helped them get back together, helped them get married. No song from Boyz II Men could ever be terrible, at least for me. If you know all the words, and I’m sure you do, just sing along.

What do you think of the list?
